Pratt Plein Air!

It was so much fun to be at Pratt painting with Janae!!!

I am pretty happy with this painting-- 8x10 oil, there is a cool sculpture in front of the library.

***
Jason was my boss when I worked in the library and he is still there.  I see him now and then when I visit Pratt.

I want a shirt that says NO.

Starting as always with mid-points!

I found a mushroom.

I have a very deep love for the Pratt Library.
I worked in circulation all 4 years of my time at Pratt.
Summers, too.

I do now have actual official access to the library again.
(all alumni really should have it but Pratt needs to get their shit together)

Soon I'm going to paint inside the library.

I have decided that after I die, I am going to haunt the stacks.
Honestly, I think I would make an absolutely fantastic library ghost.

You'll most likely find me on 2M or the Lower Level.

There is no longer black mold in the basement.
Stuff that was tolerated when I was a student would just never fly today, it's insane.

Retro Pratt 1995

I went to visit Janae overnight for a paint date at Pratt the next morning.

She kept a scrap book of our Freshman year.
It was so fun to look through- I haven't seen this book since before Daya was born!

That year janae did specifically say she wanted a pony for her birthday...

Keycard Filth Shaming is Not OK

Bitz and I wear our keycards in the river.
Kedrin does not.

So our keycards are coated in river filth and Kedrin's is nice and clean.

She made fun of us.

Plein Air Plus Visual Memory

Kedrin recently went to LA and brought back amazing cheese.

She invited me over for a cheese party yesterday.
I brought paint.

We ate AMAZING cheese and had good conversation, and then we went outside to chat and fix jewelry and paint.

And then we got a surprise thunderstorm.

I ALMOST left my gear at Kedrin's because I actually did want to finish this painting.
And then I decided to make it an exercise in visual memory, go home, and finish today.

I very intentionally did not take a picture of this marvelous wall.

This painting was half done on-location and finished from memory in-studio, and I am very happy with it.

After I finished and posted the painting, Kedrin took a picture of the wall:

July 4, and a Useful Harpoon-Milk-Crate-Thingy

This July 4 was a bit different at the boathouse.
Fireworks are back on the Hudson, so Hudson River Park was closed completely from 1pm onwards.

Originally it was 3pm but they told us last-minute it was actually 1pm.

We could have visitors for our annual party, and we had many of them.

As usual we went on the water for fireworks...there were 2 shows at the same time- the NYC show and the Jersey City show.

I am embarrassed to say NJ was better.  They did an actual finale and the NY show just..... stopped; it was so weird.

I don't know; it was ok, I liked the smaller guest numbers of previous years.

Hector my boathouse brother

We have an actual for-reals HARPOON which is attached to a milk crate for fishing things that fall into the river out of the river.
