A VERY Small World in Hudson

Today Daya and I went up to Hudson to just have a nice shopping day in a place we both like.
Yesterday was Daya's last day at work, tomorrow she starts her artistic internship at Move NYC for 2 weeks, then Juilliard starts.

We got to Hudson a little after 11am.

I had a checklist of things I wanted to do, and Daya made a schedule which I kept not looking at and asking her questions about where we were going next, which annoyed her a lot.  I didn't do it on purpose, I just didn't want to have to read a schedule. Asking her was easier.

Anyhow.

We walked up Warren St.

Would you like some bone broth with your ice cream?

The Hudson Market has nice stuff but it's REALLY expensive.

We went to the farmers' market.

These drag queen- made chocolate chip cookies might seriously be the best ones I have ever had.
Ever.

Daya got a huge tomato and ate it right there.

Then we went to AnmalKind to see the kitty cats.

This is Pauly and he just had an ear thing removed, hence the Cone of Shame.

This cat's name is Pelusa but I think his name should be Pissy.

Pauly adopted Daya.

After AnimalKind we had a nice French brunch at Le Gamin.

Then we walked down Warren to visit favorite places.......

Pretend-cook like it's 1955!

I found an AnimalKind shirt at The Second Show!

I also got a small black bag and a Norman Rockwell book.
Daya got a shirt.

The mug is from Tradewinds, isn't it pretty?

There was a tag sale down the road, all proceeds supporting AnimalKind.
We didn't get anything though.

The Spotty Dog, of course, where I changed into my AnimalKind tshirt!

View out the window at Tradwinds....

Verdigris!
Daya yelled at me because I went right over to the tea library, which is.... ?????... now in an employees-only area!!

That makes NO SENSE!

We bought a lot of tea and some chocolate, because that's what happens at Verdigris.

Next up on the agenda was the Antique warehouse place down a little past the train station.
They have wacky stuff plus some interesting vintage clothing, which Daya wanted to check out.

On the way over, a lady stopped us on the sidewalk.

Asked about Daya's Juilliard hoodie.

AS IT TURNS OUT.......
Her daughter is a professional dancer, went to LaGuardia and Juilliard, graduated from there in 2011 and Daya literally knows all the people this woman knows and people who are VERY closely connected with her daughter..  She also helped start up Move NYC.

Seriously, what are the chances.

It is a VERY, very small world.

We talked for a bit and exchanged contact info, she says I can ask her any parent-Juilliard questions.
That's nice, especially since I have no Juilliard parent connections.

***********
Aster our fantastic serendipitous meeting, we made it to the antique warehouse place.  Daya didn't find anything.
I got 2 pairs of earrings.

Lithographs from 1790-1890

Then we walked back to the other end of Warren St to have dinner at Wasabi.
(Daya didn't want to go to Lil Deb's Oasis...oh well.....)

Crenelation House

AnimalKind kitty smooshed between the window and the screen, checking out the street scene....

Wasabi

I was still not very hungry from brunch.

Daya ate a massive amount of food then ordered more, because she was curious what this roll looked like, and she liked it better than the other rolls she ordered.

I don't know how she could physically eat so much, but I'm glad she enjoyed it.

The bathroom sink/cabinet is the same one I have in my bathroom.
The faucet is different... I thought that was pretty funny.

We walked back down Warren and got frozen kefir.....

And made it back to the train station.

Daya walked on the tracks, which I didn't think was a big deal.
Two women came over- they didn't work there, they were passengers and apparently also moms. and they told her they were going mom on her and told her to stop.

I didn't say anything, maybe I should have... that I'm actually her mom and I don't see any issue.
My kid is not a dumbass and I didn't see anything dangerous.

There was a lovely sunset over the river.
