Not a Wipe, I Guess

Today was our third and probably final plein air event for the year, organized by Francis.

We painted at the Radio Hotel.

I chose a pretty complex scene...then the heat got SO BAD and I melted and died.
I force-finished the painting and decided I would go home and wipe it.

8x10 oil

Except everyone else really liked it (????) and the Radio Hotel people want a print (?????????).

So I guess I'll keep it as a reminder that I am not always a good judge of my own work.

I am specifically allowed

Andrew and Frankie have their own corner.
Except I like it in there too.

They are both in agreement that I am also allowed, so I modified the sign to let everyone know.

I'm short and can't reach up to write, so I wrote it on tape (medical tape bc it's the boathouse and there was nothing else I could find).

How to Draw a Turkey

THING 1:
Daya has been different since she got back from Italy.
In a wonderful way.
She's nice and friendly and.... pretty fantastic.
She is appreciative and kind, and is sharing stuff about her day-to-day life.

I'm so happy.

She is also going through a tough situation at work and has been sleeping in my room.
I don't care. She can sleep in here if she wants, fine by me.

(I never took the bed down from when Janae was here (sheets got washed tho) because the cats like it and also I'm lazy.)

THING 2:
I shared my retro Pratt pics with Daya and she posted one of them on her instagram.
And also... this....

I left this tutorial on her desk.....

A So-So Floral Plein Air

I went out painting again today, this time an easy trip to Roosevelt Island.

There are a lot of painting possibilities there.
But I decided to do a plein air floral- it's been a long time since I did one and I'm not very experienced at floral painting.

8x10 oil

It took me several minutes too realize the dog is a statue.
I almost panted this scene but I had passed the flowers first and they were stuck in my head.

Pratt Plein Air!

It was so much fun to be at Pratt painting with Janae!!!

I am pretty happy with this painting-- 8x10 oil, there is a cool sculpture in front of the library.

***
Jason was my boss when I worked in the library and he is still there.  I see him now and then when I visit Pratt.

I want a shirt that says NO.

Starting as always with mid-points!

I found a mushroom.

I have a very deep love for the Pratt Library.
I worked in circulation all 4 years of my time at Pratt.
Summers, too.

I do now have actual official access to the library again.
(all alumni really should have it but Pratt needs to get their shit together)

Soon I'm going to paint inside the library.

I have decided that after I die, I am going to haunt the stacks.
Honestly, I think I would make an absolutely fantastic library ghost.

You'll most likely find me on 2M or the Lower Level.

There is no longer black mold in the basement.
Stuff that was tolerated when I was a student would just never fly today, it's insane.
