Tudors at The Met

I really, really wanted to see the Tudors exhibit and yesterday bummed me out badly.
Not only because of that scary drink but I really wanted to see the exhibit!

I asked G if she wanted to come back and she said yes but then didn't due to feeling crappy.
Thankfully I wasn't feeling so crappy I couldn't go out.
I didn't have a headache, I don't even think I can say I was hungover (ONE drink!!) but I felt a little off.
Not too terrible tho.

So, back to The Met I went to see the beautiful art from those dreadful Tudors.

It is a wonderful exhibit, many famous paintings are there.
It's really something to see paintings that are in all childhood history textbooks in person.

And these paintings are HUGE.
.....HUGE!!!

There were also several teeeeeeny tiny very tiny miniatures, but I didn't photograph them.
Maybe I will do that when I go back with G this Friday.

Not a Great Saturday

G and I planned on meeting at The Met to go see the new Tudor exhibit during member preview days.

But we both also really wanted to get a cocktail up on the roof garden, so we did that first.

Now, I was up there this past summer with Kedrin and Dennis, and I had TWO of their cocktails, which are really good..... I don't drink a lot of alcohol in general, I like an occasional glass of wine but not hard liquor****.  A cocktail is a special occasion-only thing for me.

(*** ok so there is a moonshine vendor at the Union Square Greenmarket on Saturdays who has apple pie moonshine and the most amazing maple moonshine.  Every few months I'll get a jar, it's that good.)

So anyhow, over the summer I had TWO drinks up there and I was completely fine.
Absolutely fine. (And I also never get messed up from the occasional moonshime.)

I had ONE drink with G and .... we were both done.  ONE DRINK. DONE.
She drinks more than I do and self-describes herself as "a literal tank" and it was bad for both of us.
That's not right.

Something was definitely wrong with that drink, like it had three times the amount of alcohol it should have, but I couldn't tell because of the flavoring. And, frankly, I don't expect what I consider to be an actual dangerous drink from the rooftop at the Met.

The view was nice....

Anyhow, neither of us was functional enough to stay at the museum (I felt AWFUL) so we took a cab down to the Lower East Side (G lives there) and hung out until we both felt better, then I went home.

I will never get a drink from the rooftop again, that was really bad.
I never want to feel like that again.
But now I don't trust them.
Its a pity, because they do make very nice cocktails but that was just horrible.

Not as Many Stairs

It's October??
What the heck have I been doing this past week?

Um, honestly? A whole bunch of freaking nothing.
I can't even remember.
Wow, I really can't remember.
How days can run together is freaky, is this what life is supposed to be?
I do know it has been raining non-stop, I guess we got some of the hurricane....
So much rain............
I haven't gone out, i haven't painted....

I went to the office today, for the first time in a long time.

Went to LaGuardia afterwards.....

Well, here's another last in a year of lasts... the first Dance PA meeting where the faculty introduce themselves.
It was a wonderful meeting.

LaGuardia Dance is such a special, wonderful place and I'm still so deeply thankful my kid is there, and this has been her high school experience, covid notwithstanding.

I did not have to take as many stairs in this school of neverending stairs............

(I will miss the neverending stairs...)

Some pretty good tempera paintings... this is good work, especially for high school.

The elevators in the school are broken so we had the meeting in a secret room on the 2nd floor that no one knew about! So, I didn't get to see my paintings on the 8th floor. Hopefully next month!
