I had harnesses for 2 of my rats once, not so they could walk on the ground, but just as a safety precaution when out and about and they were on my shoulder.
It is very easy to put the rat in a small bag, or a small travel case in a shopping bag.
When Umber went to the Medieval Faire we just carried him around. People LOVE them. Especially if you don't call them a rat.
Awww, cute :-) My mom would have a semi-heart attack if we got a rat though... She already freaked out when we were babysitting our friends' chinchillas. She was all like: 'Those things will be gone by the time we get to Switzerland, right??'.
Can you put a harness on these creatures and train them to walk on leash?
