Deck Boat Shenanigans

Tonight there was a deck boat class at the boathouse and I was the only student!

This was fabulous because I learned a ton and we all got to do weird things with the kayaks.

This summer I had a goal of learning about deck boats- mission accomplished!

Deck boats are different than the sit-on-top ocean kayaks we use for the public program...they are trickier, tippier, and involve more gear. Also they will fill up with water which sucks.

Now I can self-rescue and also assist-rescue in them, but I don't think I will be taking one on a trip any time soon..... or so I say now...

Overtired Recovery

I woke up at 5am on Friday and Saturday.

Yesterday afternoon I was home for exactly 27 minutes before having to leave again for a hotline shift.

We had a serious emergency on my shift and it ran over, and also the trains were HORRIBLE so I didn't get to bed until 1am.

And then this morning I woke up at 4:40am to tape Daya's back (KT Tape) and to say goodbye because she is off to Vancouver for three weeks.

I was so overtired I couldn't sleep, so I unpacked, took down the guest bed (now that Daya is gone), cleaned, did laundry, dishes, and.... defrosted my standalone freezer (!!! I KNOW !!!) and took it easy.

Pebbles wanted to help but mostly just got in the way.

4 Paintings in 18 Hours

Janae and I were supposed to go to Ocean Grove NJ on Aug 1-3 for a beach (bitch!) painting trip.
Except Janae got covid and was feeling crappy so it got cancelled.

Except Thursday night she texted me, feeling better, asking wanna go tomorrow??

I was already supposed to be off work so I said yes!

And we went.

We drank drinks and ate food and painted on the beach.

To save weight, I brought my little Belly River box, who is the BEST travel buddy.

It was nice to paint on it again.

I did 4 paintings over 18 hours which is ridiculous, even for me:
